Salt Lake City, located besides the Wasatch Valley in Utah, is home to extreme weathers ranging from long, dry summers to very cold snowy winters. Creating a home to suit both weather conditions is always a major hassle but can easily be handled. Do away with electricity bills and reduce costs with energy efficient options available near and around Salt Lake City.

Windows, doors and skylights are the biggest inlet for cold air as well as heat. By having them properly sealed, you can save up on future bills without compromising style and comfort. Insulated roof panels can also be invested in to do away with any extra heat rays. The same can be applied for walls, and together they can keep the home’s temperature cool and comfortable during the long dreary summers. Renovations should be geared towards these services in order to benefit the most out of energy efficiency.

Kitchen remodeling is an easy project when focused on energy efficiency. With the advent of energy saving light bulbs and halogens, lighting up the room has never been cheaper. Energy saving appliances is also available on the market, so make the most out of your kitchen and purchase these goods.

Bathroom remodeling should include a good ventilation system in order to control the moisture in this room to save up on money and energy. For lighting, using energy saving bulbs for the cabinets, ceiling and even decorative light fixtures is a good choice. The walls behind the showers and bathtubs are often poorly sealed and insulated and these walls should be opened up to put in caulk or expanding foam in order to install an insulation system.

When remodeling to make your house more energy efficient, the basement should not be overlooked as it is the cause of a major loss of energy. Indoor air quality can be improved dramatically by reversing basement dampness and testing for radon before beginning any project. Sealing the area and installing vapor retarders also help. Wrapping the water heater as well as piping saves any heat which is lost. Any windows in the basement should also be sealed properly so as to control the temperature of the home.

Attics are a major area to be addressed when saving energy. Having the whole place sealed can help while insulating the walls and sealing is the most effective option. This portion of the home can eventually become the source of extra heat coming and or escaping.

With the advent of energy efficient house remodeling styles, home improvement has never been this efficient. Deck out your house to suit the city’s weather and enjoy the comfortable temperature of the accommodations.
