Bathroom remodeling can be anything you can think of. It may start with expansion, re-tiling and installment of new fixtures. Despite the heavy work and cost, people would still push for remodeling because it improves the value of the property. Homes with the most beautiful bathrooms are more likely to have an 80% increase in value. 

One of the crucial decisions homeowners have in bathroom remodeling is whether to install a bathtub or a shower. Both fixtures have their own magic in making your bath time an enjoyable one. However, there are certain things to think about in installing them. 

Things to consider in bathtub installations 

Bathtub provides a different level of comfort in bathing. When you have this at home, you can have the luxury of having warm bubble baths that can help de-stress yourself after a hard day of work. It is even therapeutic for the handicapped and the elderly. 

However, in exchange for convenience, bathtubs are pricey compared to shower-only bathrooms.  The tub itself could cost as much as $2,500. Not to mention, the multi-renovations that needs to be done concurrent to its installation. For one, if the tub is bigger than the bathroom, you may be forced to expand (if it is not part of the original plan). Second, the floor should be properly joisted to support the weight of the tub when it is filled with water. Third, if the tub is big, you may have to trade your standard pipes for bigger ones for faster filling. Not to mention, there maybe a need for building permits and looking into the safety of your kids, as well as considering the cost of utilities during use. 

If you want to install bathtubs, your budget should be at least higher compared to shower installations. In addition, you have to look into your bathroom size and systems to see if it is ready for this addition. 

Things to consider in installing showers 

If you want a more economical way of bathing, then you can use a shower. With this around, you can enjoy quick baths if you are in a hurry.

The pressure of water coming out of its head, can actually have a massaging effect to your body (more if it is warm). Although it may not be as relaxing as a bathtub, you can still get the best of its basic function: to provide water for bathing. What is good about it is that you can install them without having to worry about expanding. 

However, there may be ready-made showers built with containers that you can get in the market. Examples of these are steam showers with spa features encased in fiberglass containers. Another one are showers glass enclosures. They are big but easy to install. However, they can also be costly as they can provide a more sophisticated and elegant look for your bathrooms. 

Additional considerations may include installation of quick draining system, new showerheads and re-tiling. However, they do not need to be costly. You can choose a simpler system to apply.

If you think your bathroom is equipped for both kinds of bathing equipment, you may want to try installing them both. It is flexible and it doubles the pleasure you experience in bathing.
